Summary
- Fan-run website launched to combat high World Cup ticket prices.
- Resale prices for Scotland's opening match exceeded $2,000.
- A £5 registration fee supports the Tartan Army Sunshine charity.

The Tartan Army is fighting back against exorbitant World Cup ticket prices by launching a fan-run ticket swap website. This initiative, named Ticket Exchange, aims to allow Scottish supporters to exchange and sell World Cup briefs without facing "obnoxious" resale mark-ups.
The cheapest tickets for Scotland's opening match against Haiti in Boston were priced at $380, with the most expensive exceeding $2,000. This dynamic pricing model, adjusted in real-time by Fifa, has been a major concern for fans traveling to the US to support their national team, which has qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 30 years.
Fans pay a £5 fee to register on Ticket Exchange, with all proceeds donated to the Tartan Army Sunshine charity. This project was initiated to assist "desperate" fans who had already invested in travel but faced difficulties securing match tickets. The exchange is currently facilitated by fans Carey McEvoy, Gill Taggart, and Gordon Forbes to prevent scams.
Compared to a similar operation during Euro 2024, McEvoy noted the World Cup situation is more challenging due to fewer available tickets and higher costs. Despite these difficulties, the exchange demonstrates a strong sense of community, with fans praising the initiative for showing how Scottish supporters "look after each other" and are "taking back control" from Fifa.
