Engstrand Leaves Jets for Falcons Coaching Role
1 Feb
Summary
- Tanner Engstrand departs the New York Jets after one season.
- He previously spent four seasons with the Detroit Lions.
- Engstrand will become the Atlanta Falcons' passing game coordinator.

Tanner Engstrand has concluded his time with the New York Jets, not returning for the 2026 NFL season after just one year.
The 43-year-old coach previously spent four seasons in Detroit with the Lions, serving as offensive quality control coach, tight ends coach, and passing game coordinator.
Discussions with Jets head coach Robert Saleh regarding a modified role did not result in a mutual agreement, leading to Engstrand's departure.
Engstrand is reportedly set to accept the position of passing game coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons, who recently hired Kevin Stefanski as head coach.
These changes follow a difficult 2025 season for the Jets, who managed only three wins under Saleh.
Greg Roman is also being considered for the Jets' offensive coordinator position.
