Szoboszlai Leads Europe in Direct Free Kick Goals

Dominik Szoboszlai's remarkable free-kick ability places him in elite company, nearing a record previously held by Luis Suárez. Szoboszlai has netted four goals directly from free kicks across all competitions this season. This tally makes him the most prolific Liverpool player in this regard since Suárez scored five in the 2012-13 season. He currently boasts three direct free-kick goals in the Premier League this season, a figure unmatched by any player in Europe's top five leagues. This achievement also places him joint-highest since James Ward-Prowse hit the same number in the 2022-23 campaign. Szoboszlai has scored two of the longest-range free kicks in the Premier League this season. These were from 29.9 meters against Manchester City and 31.8 meters against Arsenal. Unfortunately, Szoboszlai will be unavailable for Liverpool's upcoming league fixture against Sunderland due to a one-match ban following his red card. The midfielder received his marching orders for preventing a clear goal-scoring opportunity against Manchester City. He will, however, be eligible for the FA Cup match against Brighton.
