Moten was found at his home in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday afternoon, though the cause of his death remains under investigation with no reports of foul play. Since June 2025, he had been working as the head coach for the boys and girls basketball teams at the Digital Pioneers Academy in Washington.
Moten is survived by his wife, Noelene, whom he met while they were both students at Syracuse University in the early 1990s. The couple has two daughters, Lawrencia and Leilani. Moten was also raised in part by his grandmother, Grace Ellison, and his mother, Lorraine Burgess.
