Swiatek Seeks Second China Open Title in Clash with Osorio

On Sunday, September 28th, 2025, second-seeded Iga Swiatek will face off against Camila Osorio of Colombia in the third round of the China Open. Swiatek, the World No. 2, has been in remarkable form since her return to the tour at Wimbledon earlier this year. The Polish player has won 14 of her last 15 matches, which includes her 25th career singles title triumph in Seoul just last week.

Swiatek will be eager to secure her second China Open title later this week. She has already made a strong start to her campaign, making quick work of local favorite Yuan Yue in the second round with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Now, the 24-year-old will face World No. 83 Osorio, who has endured a gritty path to reach the Round of 32 at this year's China Open.

The 23-year-old Colombian needed over three hours to dispatch Ann Li of the USA in a three-set thriller in the first round. Osorio then followed that up by defeating 28th-seeded Anna Kalinskaya in another three-set battle on Saturday. Swiatek holds a 1-0 head-to-head advantage over Osorio, having defeated her in straight sets at the 2023 Australian Open.

While Swiatek prefers slower courts, the lower-bouncing conditions in Beijing are expected to suit her game well, making her groundstrokes particularly tough to read for her opponents. Osorio, on the other hand, relies on a more defensive, topspin-heavy strategy, which may struggle to counter Swiatek's power and precision.
