Summary
- Bouyea converted his two-way deal to a standard NBA contract.
- He previously played for five different NBA teams.
- Bouyea has averaged 6.5 points per game for the Suns.
Phoenix Suns guard Jamaree Bouyea has been awarded his first standard NBA contract, transitioning from a previous two-way agreement. Bouyea's rise with the Suns began in November following a series of team injuries. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting his long journey through various G League stints and brief NBA appearances with multiple teams.
Bouyea, who went undrafted in 2022 after a notable college career at San Francisco, has become a valuable contributor. He is currently averaging 6.5 points per game on 48% shooting in 15.5 minutes for the Suns. This signing was anticipated, especially after the team adjusted its roster following the trade deadline and opened a spot by waiving Cole Anthony.
Suns coach Jordan Ott praised Bouyea for his readiness and consistent effort. Ott highlighted Bouyea's ability to perform when called upon, particularly during periods of lineup instability. The guard's development and earned contract reflect his perseverance in a competitive league.
