He appeared in seven games, making six starts as a rookie backup in 2024, and then started eight of nine games in 2025, totaling 1,317 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie year, followed by 1,586 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025.
Despite Rattler's starting opportunities, the Saints struggled, going 1-7 in his starts last season. While he shows mobility and flashes of potential, questions remain about his accuracy and ceiling as a franchise quarterback. The Steelers also have their 2025 sixth-round pick, Will Howard, who is recovering from a hand injury sustained in training camp.
