The Pittsburgh Steelers signed wide receiver Jakobie Keeney-James on Tuesday. This move fills the roster spot that became available after receiver Cole Burgess suffered an unspecified lower-body injury during practice on Monday. Burgess was subsequently waived/injured by the team.
Keeney-James, standing at 6-foot and weighing 190 pounds, went undrafted in 2025 and had stints with both the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers. He was activated for the Packers' final game of the 2025 season, where he recorded two receptions and returned two kickoffs.
In his college career at UMass, Keeney-James led the team in receptions (40), receiving yards (603), and touchdowns (five) during his senior season, after transferring from FCS Eastern Washington where he played for five seasons. He is now wearing No. 23 for the Steelers, who currently have 12 wide receivers in training camp.
