17 Oct
Summary
- Borja Iglesias and Carl Starfelt will miss Celtic's Europa League match.
- Both players sustained muscle tears and face six weeks out.
- Celtic's opponents, Celta Vigo, are dealing with these significant absences.
Former Celtic defender Carl Starfelt and World Cup winner Borja Iglesias will be absent for Celta Vigo's upcoming Europa League fixture against Celtic at Parkhead. Starfelt sustained a muscular tear in his right leg while on international duty with Sweden.
Celta Vigo confirmed that Iglesias also suffered a significant injury, a myotendinous tear in his left leg's soleus muscle, during a recent training session. Both players are expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks.
This double injury blow comes as Celtic themselves are seeking to improve their standing in the Europa League. The Scottish club has experienced consecutive defeats in the competition and currently sits low in the group standings.
