Summary
- McLaurin reported to Commanders training camp after 4-day holdout
- McLaurin placed on PUP list due to ankle injury from last season
- Teammates and fans welcomed McLaurin's return to the team
On Sunday, Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin reported to the team's training camp, ending a 4-day holdout. McLaurin, who was named to the 2024 second-team All-Pro, had been seeking a new contract with the Commanders.
Despite the ongoing contract negotiations, McLaurin was welcomed back by his teammates and enthusiastic fans, who chanted his name as he took the field. Coach Dan Quinn expressed his excitement at having McLaurin back, describing him as an "awesome competitor" at his core.
However, McLaurin was placed on the active/physically unable to perform (PUP) list due to an ankle injury he sustained last season. This means he will be unable to participate in on-field activities for the time being. Nevertheless, McLaurin was able to join his teammates in meetings and work with the training staff inside the team facility.
The Commanders' leading receiver from the 2022 season, McLaurin set a career-high with 13 touchdown receptions and had 1,096 receiving yards. His return to the team, even in a limited capacity, is a significant boost as the Commanders look to build on their surprising run to the NFC championship game last year.
