Stanford Football Opens 2026 Season Under New Coach

Stanford football embarks on its 2026 season opener in the ACC, hosting the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors at Stanford Stadium. This game signifies the beginning of a new chapter for the Cardinal under newly appointed head coach Tavita Pritchard. Pritchard, a Stanford alumnus and former quarterbacks coach for the Washington Commanders, was hired following the 2025 season to lead the program as its 37th head coach.

This coaching transition was directly facilitated by football general manager Andrew Luck, who joined the staff in 2024. This matchup against Stanford is the third meeting between the two teams in the last four years, serving as a tiebreaker until their next scheduled encounter in 2030. Hawai'i secured a narrow 23-20 win in their last meeting during the 2025 season opener.
