Sunrisers Hyderabad has secured the services of England's David Payne as a replacement for the injured Jack Edwards. Edwards was initially acquired by SRH for Rs 3 crore during the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Payne, a left-arm fast-medium bowler, has been signed for Rs 1.5 crore.
Payne brings significant T20 experience, having played 233 matches and taken 304 wickets. He has represented England at the U-19 level and played one ODI in 2022 against the Netherlands. His domestic and franchise career includes leading wicket-taker honors for Gloucestershire in T20 cricket and success in the BBL and ILT20.
SRH is preparing for their opening match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, scheduled for March 28. The team will also be without Pat Cummins at the start of the tournament, with Ishan Kishan named interim captain. Meanwhile, KKR has signed Saurabh Dubey as a replacement for the injured Akash Deep.
