Spire Motorsports Defends Driver, Denies 'Unserious' Label

Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson has responded to recent criticism labeling his team and driver Carson Hocevar as "unserious" and uncaring about on-track incidents. Dickerson firmly stated that Spire Motorsports does care and fully supports Hocevar, clarifying that they do not condone unnecessary collisions but will not attempt to "extinguish" the driver's competitive spirit.

Hocevar, known for his aggressive driving, has been involved in several controversial incidents, most recently with Brad Keselowski at Darlington Raceway. This led to public commentary questioning Spire's lack of disciplinary action. Dickerson countered that private conversations and consequences are handled internally, rejecting the notion of changing Hocevar into a conformist.

Dickerson likened the situation to past critiques of other teams, referencing Denny Hamlin's "no adults in the room" comment and Joe Gibbs Racing's history. He asserted Spire's commitment to maintaining Hocevar's "fire" while still pursuing positive results and respect within the sport. The goal is not to make Hocevar a "carcass of a personality" but to foster his growth with experience.
