Spain's World Cup preparations are underway following a surprising squad announcement by head coach Luis de la Fuente. The team is set to assemble on May 30, with nine additional backup players confirmed. Among the notable inclusions are Javi Guerra and Gonzalo García.
However, the most significant talking point surrounds the notable absences. Goalkeeper Alex Remiro, defenders Dean Huijsen, Robin Le Normand, and Dani Carvajal, and attackers Pablo Fornals, Espí, Jorge de Frutos, Isi Palazón, and Samu are not part of the 26-man squad.
