Southampton is currently fourth, three points off second place.

Southampton continued their impressive form on Tuesday night, securing their seventh consecutive win with a home victory over Blackburn. This surge in performance has seen the team remain unbeaten for the last 18 games, propelling them into fourth place in the league standings. They are now within striking distance of automatic promotion, sitting just three points behind second-placed Ipswich.

The promotion race remains tight, with Southampton, Ipswich, and Middlesbrough closely vying for top spots. Ipswich, though possessing a game in hand, faces tough upcoming fixtures, including a match against Middlesbrough and a potentially decisive clash at St Mary's on April 28th. This significant match occurs just days after Southampton's FA Cup semi-final engagement with Manchester City, raising questions about potential distractions.
