Southampton Reject Everton's £40M Bid for Teenage Sensation Dibling
5 Aug
Summary
- Southampton counter-offer Everton £45M plus £5M in bonuses for Dibling
- Everton unwilling to meet Southampton's valuation, shift focus to other targets
- Dibling's Southampton contract runs until 2027, made Premier League debut in 2024

As of August 5th, 2025, Southampton have made a counter-offer to Everton in their ongoing negotiations over a potential transfer of 19-year-old winger Tyler Dibling. Everton had previously submitted a bid worth around £40 million for the young player, but Southampton have now come back with a proposal of £45 million plus £5 million in easily achievable bonuses and a 25% sell-on clause.
However, this revised offer from Southampton is beyond what Everton is willing to pay for Dibling, and the Merseyside club has informed Southampton of their intention to shift their focus to pursuing other targets in parallel. Southampton, on the other hand, do not plan to reduce their price, believing that Dibling is the best young English player currently on the market and a key part of their plans to secure promotion back to the Premier League.
Dibling, an England youth international, has a contract with Southampton that runs until 2027. Everton had already made an unsuccessful opening bid for him earlier this summer. The talented winger enjoyed a breakthrough 2024-25 season, making his Premier League debut in August and going on to score four goals and provide three assists across 38 appearances in all competitions.
