Sooners Suffer Setbacks: Key Offensive Players Ruled Out for South Carolina Clash

As the Oklahoma Sooners prepare to face the South Carolina Gamecocks on October 21, 2025, they will be without several key offensive players. According to the Friday night availability report, running back Jovantae Barnes, wide receiver Keontez Lewis, and tight end Kade McIntyre have all been ruled out for the game.

Barnes, who has 19 carries for 45 yards and one touchdown in four games this season, was initially thought to have a hamstring injury, but head coach Brent Venables revealed that "there's something else" and expects it to be a "short-term thing." Lewis, who returned to action last week after a scary collision against Kent State, has now been ruled out as well.

In addition to the injuries to Barnes, Lewis, and McIntyre, the Sooners are also dealing with the absence of offensive lineman Logan Howland, who is doubtful to play against the Gamecocks. The team is already thin at offensive tackle, with Jacob Sexton and Jake Taylor still out.
