Biathlete Sondre Slettemark, originally from Greenland, has realized his lifelong ambition of competing in the Olympics. He participated in the demanding 20km individual race, an event held at approximately 1600 meters above sea level and consisting of five challenging laps. Although he finished 62nd, over eight minutes behind the winner, Slettemark was filled with pride upon crossing the finish line.
Representing Denmark, as Greenland lacks its own Olympic committee, the 21-year-old continues a family tradition. His father, Oystein, and older sister, Ukaleq, are also Olympians. Slettemark recounted the intense nervousness he felt before the race, finding it difficult to treat it like a typical World Cup event.
