Sir Chris Hoy has found a powerful purpose in charity fundraising following his terminal cancer diagnosis. The cycling legend announced that his "Tour de 4" cycling event, scheduled for September, has become a "driving force" for him.
Last year's inaugural "Tour de 4" successfully raised more than £3.1 million. Hoy, who revealed early in 2026 that his prostate cancer had spread to his bones, has been given a prognosis of two to four years to live by doctors.
He shared that his health appears stable amidst treatment and that his perspective on life has shifted significantly. Hoy noted, "Your mortality is brought into focus, and you have to appreciate everything you have." He also underwent major leg surgery after a crash in November 2025.
Hoy emphasized the importance of using his platform for positive impact, calling the upcoming charity cycling event an "incredible day." He also reflected on the difficult period when his wife, Sarra, was diagnosed with MS shortly after his own diagnosis, highlighting her supportive role.
