Summary

- Four classes now have unanimous No. 1 ranked teams, a season high.
Sioux Falls Jefferson has officially claimed the No. 1 spot in the Class 11AAA football rankings, earning all 22 first-place votes. This unanimous designation follows their decisive victory over then-undefeated Brandon Valley, who now drops to No. 2.
The Cavaliers are the third team this season to hold the top position in Class 11AAA, showcasing a dynamic shift in the rankings. Harrisburg and O'Gorman remain steady at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Sioux Falls Lincoln secured sole possession of fifth place.
This move by Jefferson reflects a broader trend in South Dakota high school football, with four classes now featuring unanimous top-ranked teams, the most in any single week of the 2026 season. Pierre (11AA), Sioux Falls Christian (11A), and Parkston (9AA) also hold undisputed No. 1 rankings in their respective divisions.
Other divisions show movement as well. In Class 9AA, Platte-Geddes surged to No. 2 after a significant win, while Centerville dropped in the Class 9A rankings following a loss. The rankings, released on September 21, detail the top five teams in each class.
