On October 10, 2025, Indian captain Shubman Gill showcased his batting prowess once again, scoring a sparkling century on Day 2 of the ongoing second Test against the West Indies in Delhi. Gill, who had walked in to bat with India comfortably placed at 251/2 on the opening day, coasted to his 10th Test ton off 177 deliveries.
The 26-year-old's century was also his fifth as captain, making him only the second Indian skipper to achieve this feat in a calendar year, alongside Virat Kohli. Gill has been in remarkable red-ball form since taking over the captaincy, scoring 754 runs at an average of 75.40 in his first assignment in England, including three centuries and a double century.
Gill's latest century, along with valuable contributions from Nitish Kumar Reddy (43) and Dhruv Jurel (44), helped India declare their first innings at a commanding 518/5. The hosts had already won the series opener by a massive innings and 140 runs and look poised for another convincing victory in the second Test.
