The Shreveport Times has opened online voting for its High School Athlete of the Week award. This recognition specifically honors student-athletes participating in LHSAA-sanctioned sports other than football across 15 northwest Louisiana schools. Voting concludes on Friday night, and the winner will be announced on Sunday.
Each weekly honoree will receive a backpack, a boxed lunch combo, and additional merchandise from sponsors Raising Cane's and Cosse and Silmon. Furthermore, the winner will be featured in a story by The Times, celebrating their athletic accomplishments.
This initiative aims to highlight a diverse range of student-athletes. Previous preseason honorees include Caddo Magnet's Violet Collier for Volleyball Player of the Year, Plain Dealing's Jeremy Fisher for Football Player of the Year, and Captain Shreve's Zaria Hall for Cheerleader of the Year. The current Week 36 ballot features nominees from track, baseball, softball, tennis, and more.
Coaches and school administrators can nominate their student-athletes for this accolade by emailing jwatson@shreveporttimes.com. The award celebrates excellence across various sports throughout the school year.
