Michigan Coach Fired for Dishonesty, Not Just Affair

Sherrone Moore's termination from his Michigan football coaching position was not solely due to an "inappropriate relationship" with a staffer, as initially stated. A termination letter from athletic director Warde Manuel revealed that Moore was also dismissed for "Dishonesty During Investigation," a violation of his contract and the university's code of conduct regarding supervisor-employee relationships. These untruthful statements during the investigation were considered an independent cause for termination.

Moore's dismissal on December 10, 2026, was effective immediately. The letter detailed that his actions violated the university's code of conduct. Following his termination, Moore was arrested and subsequently faced charges including felony home invasion, misdemeanor stalking, and misdemeanor breaking and entering. He was released on a $25,000 bond under strict conditions.
