On August 27, 2025, Virender Sehwag's son Aaryavir made a remarkable debut in the ongoing 2025 Delhi Premier League (DPL). The 17-year-old right-handed batter showcased his batting prowess, reminiscent of his father's style, during the match between the East Delhi Riders and the Central Delhi Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Aaryavir's brilliant display came in the second over of the Central Delhi Kings' innings. He smashed back-to-back boundaries against former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Navdeep Saini, dispatching an overpitched delivery over the infield for an inside-out boundary and then creating room outside the off stump to pierce the fielders between extra cover and mid-off for another four.
The young cricketer's impressive performance continued as he slammed two more fours against Rounak Waghera in the fifth over, scoring a quickfire 22 off 16 balls at a strike rate of 137.50. Aaryavir's team went on to win the match by 62 runs, consolidating their top position in the points table ahead of the playoffs.
Aaryavir Sehwag, who was bought by the Central Delhi Kings for ₹8 lakh at the DPL 2025 auction, will now be keen to showcase his talent in the T20 league. The teenager has already made a name for himself, scoring an unbeaten 200 off 229 balls and 297 off 309 deliveries in the Cooch Behar Trophy last year. Aaryavir has also expressed his desire to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and share the dressing room with Virat Kohli, a dream he will be eager to fulfill in the near future.
