Lumen Field in Seattle, known for its remarkable acoustics and status as the loudest stadium in the United States, is preparing to host games during the 2026 World Cup. Originally opened in 2002 as Seahawks Stadium, it has undergone several name changes and is currently known as Lumen Field due to a sponsorship deal. For the tournament, it will be officially referred to as "Seattle Stadium" to adhere to FIFA's commercial naming regulations.

The venue's design accommodates both American football and soccer, facilitating its role as a multi-sport arena. To meet FIFA's requirements for the World Cup, Lumen Field's artificial FieldTurf surface will be replaced with a temporary natural grass pitch. Significant adjustments will be made to ensure the grass thrives under the stadium's conditions. While Seattle's climate is known for rain, the summer months offer warm, relatively dry weather suitable for the tournament.

Upgrades are also being made to enhance the fan experience, including improved security, modernized seating with backrests, upgraded video boards, and better wi-fi infrastructure. Food and beverage offerings will also see enhancements. The stadium's central location encourages the use of public transportation, with multiple train and bus routes providing easy access.

Lumen Field's distinctive horseshoe shape offers a striking view of the Seattle skyline from its open north end. Nearby neighborhoods like Pioneer Square and SoDo provide vibrant pre-match gathering spots with numerous dining and entertainment options. The proximity to T-Mobile Park further solidifies the area as a significant sports district.
