Seahawks QB's injury status looms large for Sunday's game

Coach Mike Macdonald indicated that Smith would not take every practice snap on Wednesday, with reps divided with backup Drew Lock, who has led the team to two consecutive wins. Macdonald stated that a decision on whether Smith or Lock will start against the Commanders will be made by the end of Friday. He emphasized that the team would not enter the weekend without knowing their starting quarterback. Smith is currently on a positive track, provided Wednesday's practice goes well.

The team's strong defensive performance and Lock's excellent passer rating are not influencing Smith's return timeline, according to Macdonald. The primary factor is Smith's physical readiness and comfort level to play without risking further injury.

Additionally, hybrid safety/linebacker Nick Emmanwori was a full participant in practice for the first time since before Super Bowl 60. Having returned to action last weekend, his workload is expected to increase significantly for the game in Washington, indicating his full recovery from ankle surgery.
