Scranton RailRiders to Rebrand in 2027

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders will debut a new name and visual identity for the 2027 season. This rebranding initiative, announced by team officials, will replace the RailRiders moniker after 13 years. The team's top affiliate of the New York Yankees will unveil its new look before opening the 2027 season on March 26. The new name has been selected and vetted by Major League Baseball, with an official reveal event scheduled for early November at PNC Field.

The decision to rebrand is part of a larger effort to "celebrate the region's beauty, heritage, and outdoor legacy." This marks the third significant rebrand for the franchise, which has a history in the area dating back 38 seasons. Previous iterations included the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. The new identity will be reflected throughout PNC Field, including redesigned uniforms and potentially updated branding for team store locations.

Shawn Reilly, the team's first-year President and General Manager, highlighted the rebranding as a "perfect" opportunity to "reengage the community." This move follows a successful summer for the team, which has seen a nearly 30% increase in attendance compared to 2025, attributed to stadium improvements and an enhanced fan experience. Reilly stated that the timing is ideal to capture the excitement of this "new era of baseball" at PNC Field.
