Scottish Trio Join British and Irish Lions Ahead of Series Decider
20 Jul
Summary
- Scotland's Gregor Brown called up to Lions tour due to fitness concerns over Joe McCarthy
- McCarthy left field with foot issue during Lions' win over Wallabies
- Brown, Sutherland, and Ashman leave Scotland's New Zealand tour to join Lions

In a late development, the British and Irish Lions have bolstered their squad for the upcoming series decider against Australia by calling up Scotland's Gregor Brown. The move comes as a result of concerns over the fitness of lock Joe McCarthy, who left the field during the Lions' 27-19 victory over the Wallabies on Saturday.
McCarthy, an Ireland player, is reportedly dealing with a foot issue and plantar fasciitis, which has put his availability for the crucial third test in doubt. To provide cover, the Lions have summoned Brown to join their squad in Melbourne on Sunday.
Brown is not the only Scottish player joining the Lions' tour. Rory Sutherland and Ewan Ashman have also left Scotland's ongoing tour of New Zealand to link up with the British and Irish contingent. All three Scots were part of the team that secured a 41-12 win over Samoa on Friday.
The Lions will be hoping the additional reinforcements can help them clinch the three-test series against the Wallabies when the teams meet at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday.
