Saints' Veteran Long Snapper Zach Wood Earns All-Pro Honors

As the New Orleans Saints prepare for their 59th NFL season, one of the team's most reliable players is long snapper Zach Wood. Entering his 9th year with the Saints, Wood is one of the longest-tenured players on the roster and one of the most experienced long snappers in the league.

Wood's journey to the NFL began at Rowlett High School in Texas, where he was an honorable mention all-state defensive tackle. He then played defensive end at Southern Methodist University, where he also served as the team's long snapper. After going undrafted in 2016, Wood signed with the Dallas Cowboys but was ultimately cut. The Saints then signed him, and he won the long snapper job with the team.

Over the past eight seasons, Wood has been a consistent presence for the Saints, appearing in 132 consecutive games. In 2022, his reliability and excellence were recognized when he earned 2nd Team All-Pro honors from Pro Football Focus. This offseason, the Saints rewarded Wood's consistent performance with a four-year contract extension, ensuring he will remain a key part of the team's special teams unit for years to come.
