Saints Keep 3 QBs: Wilson, Rattler, Shough Make Roster

The New Orleans Saints have finalized their 53-man roster for the 2026 season, notably keeping three quarterbacks: Zach Wilson, Spencer Rattler, and starter Tyler Shough. Hunter Dekkers was the only quarterback waived and not added to the practice squad. Head coach Kellen Moore confirmed the decision, emphasizing that the three quarterbacks "earned the opportunity" to be on the active roster. This strategy, while not common across the league, reflects the team's confidence in its quarterback room.

While Tyler Shough is the established starter, Moore indicated flexibility regarding the backup quarterback role. Zach Wilson, a former BYU standout, is on a one-year deal and is new to the Saints organization. He previously played for the Jets, Broncos, and Dolphins. Spencer Rattler, a 2024 fifth-round pick, started for the Saints last season before Shough took over. Both Rattler and Wilson saw significant preseason action, with mixed results. The team also reportedly received trade interest for Rattler.
