16 Jul
Summary
- Third baseman Tommy White, the A's No. 7 prospect, is called up.
- Right-handed pitcher Yunior Tur, No. 27 prospect, also promoted.
- Veteran starter Aaron Civale has been designated for assignment.
The Oakland Athletics are reshaping their roster as the second half of the season begins. Notably, third baseman Tommy White, the club's seventh-ranked prospect, is being called up to the major leagues. White, known for his power, has posted a .303 average and an .818 OPS this season across Double-A and Triple-A. The A's have also promoted right-handed pitcher Yunior Tur, their 27th-ranked prospect, who brings a high-90s fastball to the team. He has a 4.41 ERA in 27 appearances at Triple-A. In a significant roster move, veteran starting pitcher Aaron Civale has been designated for assignment. Civale struggled with a 5.42 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP over 74 2/3 innings this season and also missed time with tendinitis. This period follows the dismissal of pitching coach Scott Emerson earlier in the week, indicating a broader effort to adjust the team's direction.
