Rookie Tyler Shough Shines in Saints' Quarterback Battle

As the New Orleans Saints prepare for the upcoming NFL season, a heated quarterback battle is brewing within the team. The Saints, now coached by Kellen Moore, have a trio of quarterbacks vying for the starting role: Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler from last season, as well as the offseason addition of rookie Tyler Shough.

According to recent reports, Shough has been turning heads with his impressive performance in training camp. In a marathon scrimmage session on Sunday, the rookie quarterback had one of his best practices, completing 8-of-8 passes and throwing a touchdown to tight end Michael Jacobson while working with the second-team offense. Shough also got time with the first-team unit, completing 9-of-12 passes, including seven straight.

The Saints' quarterback competition appears to be wide open, with no clear frontrunner at this point. However, Shough's recent success has put him in a strong position to potentially claim the starting job. Last season, the Saints struggled when they had to rely on Rattler and Haener to fill in for the injured Derek Carr, with the offense seeming to be the worst unit in the league during those games.
