In the American League, the finalists are Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony, Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz, and Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson. Anthony, ranked as MLB Pipeline's top prospect at the time of his debut, overcame a slow start to post a .319/.415/.505 slash line over his final 56 games before an injury. Kurtz, the fourth overall pick in the 2024 draft, tied a Modern Era record with a 173 OPS+ and hit 36 home runs. Wilson, meanwhile, earned an All-Star nod and finished second in the Majors with a .311 batting average.
The National League finalists are Braves catcher Drake Baldwin, Brewers third baseman Caleb Durbin, and Cubs pitcher Cade Horton. Baldwin stepped up when the Braves needed him, hitting .274 with 19 homers and 80 RBIs. Durbin was a key part of the Brewers' lineup, showcasing elite contact skills. Horton, despite missing time due to injury, led all rookie starters with a 2.67 ERA and 11 wins.
