On August 9th, 2025, Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders made the most of his preseason start against the Carolina Panthers. The former Jackson State star led the Browns to three touchdown drives, finishing the game 14-of-23 for 138 yards, two scores, and no interceptions, with a 106.8 quarterback rating.
Earlier that day, Shedeur's father, Deion Sanders, had said "He's gonna be a problem after tonight, I promise you that." These prophetic words proved true, as the young QB guided the Browns to a 14-7 lead in the first half, completing 11-of-18 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Shedeur also rushed for 19 yards on four carries, displaying his dual-threat abilities. He led the Browns on nine drives and calmly delivered a 7-yard touchdown pass to Kaden Davis to tie the game, then connected with Davis again for a 12-yard score to give Cleveland a 14-7 lead.
In the third quarter, Shedeur led a 43-yard touchdown drive to extend the Browns' lead to 21-7. Cleveland would go on to win the game 30-10, setting the stage for more opportunities for the rookie quarterback.
