On August 4th, 2025, Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders rejoined his team's practice after missing the previous two days due to arm soreness. The 144th overall pick in this year's draft, Sanders has been competing with Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and veteran Joe Flacco for the starting quarterback job.
In the first eight days of training camp, Sanders had an impressive start, completing 49 of his 70 pass attempts for 6 touchdowns and no interceptions. However, he experienced some arm soreness on Saturday, which he says is something he's accustomed to from his college days.
"It's just adjusting to starting and stopping, honestly. That's all it truly is. Sometimes you go in hot. Then, you'll wait for a second and then get cold. Then, get back hot and then get cold. My arm and body wasn't used to that," Sanders explained.
Despite the minor setback, the young quarterback remains determined to make the most of every opportunity. "Anytime I step on the field, I take it like it could be my last. You don't know. There were players we were practicing with last week that's not here no more," he said, emphasizing the competitive nature of the NFL.
As the Browns continue their preseason preparations, Sanders will look to build on his early success and solidify his case for the starting job.
