Cristiano Ronaldo has departed Portugal's national team training camp ahead of their UEFA Nations League fixture against Denmark. The player announced his decision on Wednesday, shortly after coach Jorge Jesus indicated that the 41-year-old was not planned to start the upcoming match in Copenhagen.
Ronaldo, the men's international soccer all-time leading scorer, has not trained with the squad since Sunday's victory over Norway. His absence has fueled rumors of a disagreement with Jesus.
Coach Jesus stated that all players adhere to his decisions and confirmed Gonçalo Ramos would likely start against Denmark. He acknowledged Ronaldo might be disappointed if he was asked to warm up and then not play, a situation he described as a mistake.
