25 Apr
Summary
- Coach Udoka ranks first in ATO efficiency relative to offensive rating.
- Houston Rockets have ranked in the top ten in defensive rating for three seasons.
- The Rockets' roster has significant flaws, including poor spacing and ball-handling.
The Houston Rockets are facing a 0-2 deficit in their playoff series, leading to scrutiny of head coach Ime Udoka. However, analysis reveals Udoka's coaching acumen remains strong, particularly in crucial after-timeout situations where his team excels in efficiency.
Udoka's defensive strategies have also been a consistent strength, with the Rockets consistently ranking among the league's top ten defensive teams during his tenure.
The team's current struggles are attributed to significant roster construction issues, including poor three-point spacing and a lack of reliable ball-handlers, rather than coaching deficiencies.
Kevin Durant's performance is also impacted by subpar spacing, and the absence of key players like Steven Adams and Fred VanVleet further exacerbates these issues. The article suggests directing blame towards the front office for the roster's flaws.
