Roberto Carlos Reportedly Embraces Islam

Brazilian football icon Roberto Carlos has reportedly converted to Islam, with the event taking place in Brazil roughly four weeks ago. This significant development was announced by Ali Şahin, a lawmaker from Türkiye's ruling AK Party, following meetings with Muslim community representatives in Sao Paulo. Şahin stated he received this information from Sheikh Jihad Hammadeh, a distinguished figure within Brazil's Muslim community and vice president of the National Association of Islamic Jurists. According to Hammadeh, Carlos had been in communication for some time before visiting him about four weeks prior, during which he recited the shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith, and formally embraced Islam. Şahin shared this news via social media after attending a meeting at the Islamic Charitable Youth League of Brazil in Sao Paulo. He extended congratulations to Carlos on his reported conversion, wishing him and his family well-being and prosperity.

Roberto Carlos, aged 53, is widely recognized as one of the most exceptional left-backs in football history. His illustrious career includes a substantial tenure with Real Madrid and a period at the Turkish club Fenerbahçe starting in 2007. Recently, he also married Suhayla At Tohiri, a notable Moroccan-born football agent based in Spain. As of the current date, Carlos himself has not made any public statements to confirm or deny his reported conversion to Islam.
