Rising Star Trent Perry Impressed by Maryland Visit

In July 2025, 2026 four-star recruit Trent Perry from Texas made an official visit to the University of Maryland. The visit came as part of Maryland's efforts to finalize their 2026 recruiting class.

Head coach Buzz Williams and his staff have been recruiting Perry since before his freshman year. During the recent visit, Perry discussed both academics and basketball with the Maryland coaching staff. "It was a great visit," Perry said. "I was really going to see the campus. The staff at Texas A&M had worked with me before and built a relationship with me when I was entering ninth grade. I wanted to explore Maryland as a potential school option."

Perry, who is ranked No. 113 nationally, has developed a strong relationship with Coach Williams over the past couple of years. "I love Coach Buzz. He's a good coach and a good person who focuses on the right things. He's supported me and my family for two to three years, and I'm grateful for our relationship," Perry said.

The visit also included film sessions with assistant coach Lyle Wolf, where they compared Perry's EYBL game footage to the style of play at Texas A&M, Coach Williams' previous coaching stop. "We looked at many of those plays and how I made similar ones this season," Perry explained.

Following the Maryland visit, Perry has three additional visits scheduled: Texas A&M, Sacramento State, and TCU. While he could make a decision soon, he plans to take all the visits before making a final choice.
