- Riera views Doan as a loyal player with potential for improvement.
- Doan's playing time depends on his characteristics and team needs.
Albert Riera, the head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt, has spoken about Ritsu Doan's role in the team's lineup. Riera explained that Doan, like other players, faces competition for his position, with selections based on training intensity and tactical considerations for each match.
The coach described Doan as a "fantastic human being" and a "loyal player," characteristic of Japanese athletes. Riera's coaching philosophy centers on player development, aiming to help each individual become a better player rather than acting as an enforcer.
Doan's recent game time has seen fluctuations, including substitutions and spells on the bench, reflecting Riera's strategic approach. The coach indicated that Doan's involvement depends on whether his specific skill set aligns with the team's needs for a particular game, with alternatives like Mario Götze or Farès Chaïbi being considered when different attributes are required.
Frankfurt's upcoming schedule includes matches against teams in the relegation battle before facing tougher opponents late in the season. This period will likely test the team's depth and Riera's tactical decisions.
