Rick Adelman, Coaching Legend, Dies at 79

Rick Adelman, a revered NBA coach known for his strategic acumen, has passed away at the age of 79. Adelman's coaching career spanned 23 seasons, during which he achieved a remarkable 16 playoff appearances and secured over 1,000 regular-season wins. He is celebrated for twice guiding the Portland Trail Blazers to the NBA Finals, first in 1990 and again in 1992.

Adelman's coaching journey began at the community college level before he transitioned to the NBA as an assistant. He notably coached star players such as Clyde Drexler in Portland, Chris Webber in Sacramento, and Yao Ming in Houston. His tenure with the Sacramento Kings was marked by a controversial 2002 Western Conference Finals series against the Los Angeles Lakers, which he later described as a series his team should have won.

Inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021, Adelman's legacy extends beyond wins and accolades.
