15 Apr
Summary
- Hinds made his season debut for the Reds on Tuesday against the Giants.
- He was recalled from Triple-A Louisville after a strong performance there.
- Hinds improved his walk rate by laying off low breaking balls.
On Tuesday, Hinds took the field for his 2026 season debut with the Cincinnati Reds, starting in right field during their 2-1 win against the San Francisco Giants. He was recalled from Triple-A Louisville earlier in the day, stepping in for Noelvi Marte who was optioned down. Hinds is anticipated to share time in right field with fellow lefty-hitter Will Benson.
His performance in spring training had been strong enough to earn an Opening Day roster spot, but he began the season in Louisville. There, he showcased considerable power, hitting five home runs and achieving a 1.246 OPS in 13 games. A significant improvement noted by Hinds is his enhanced plate discipline, particularly his success in laying off breaking balls situated lower in the strike zone.
