Bennett, a 25-year-old lefty standing 6-foot-6, was a second-round draft pick in 2022. He has progressed to Double-A, posting a 2.56 ERA in 10 appearances for Harrisburg in 2025 and also featuring in the Arizona Fall League. He is considered a somewhat safer prospect with a solid minor league track record.
The Nationals received 22-year-old right-handed pitcher Luis Perales in the deal. Perales, 6-foot-1, reached Triple-A Worcester in 2025 but sustained an injury that sidelined him for most of the season. Despite a difficult 10.32 ERA in six appearances in the Arizona Fall League, he represents a higher upside play for the Nationals.
