Summary
- Mekies disputes Horner's assertion about Red Bull's diminished team spirit.
- He highlights the team's unity during a challenging start to the season.
- The ultimate goal remains returning Red Bull to championship contention.
Laurent Mekies, now leading Red Bull, has dismissed former team principal Christian Horner's claim that the team has "lost their mojo" since Horner's exit.
Mekies stated that his perspective on the team's vibe is significantly different from Horner's, highlighting incredible team spirit as a key factor in their comeback. He noted the team's unity in overcoming early-season chassis and power unit challenges, attributing their progress to the "Red Bull spirit."
Despite recent successes, including consecutive race wins, Mekies stressed that the team's focus remains on achieving world titles. He acknowledged that while a positive spirit is easier when winning, the team's ability to maintain unity under pressure is crucial.
Red Bull's own power unit project, overseen by Horner until his departure, is now ranked as the best on the grid. However, Mekies insists that until the team is back in championship contention, no achievements will be considered satisfactory.
