Real Madrid's Retro Green Kit: A Mourinho Echo

Real Madrid has launched its away kit for the 2026-27 season, featuring a dark green base not worn in 13 years. This design choice evokes memories of the 2012-13 third kit and subtly marks José Mourinho's return to the club.

The kit incorporates a retro Adidas Trefoil logo, further enhancing its vintage appeal. This contrasts with modern away kits that have sometimes lacked distinct character.

Geometric detailing and repeated club initials are integrated into the fabric, adding texture and depth. A modern collar with off-white tipping, along with matching accents on cuffs and shoulders, complements the clean aesthetic.

The team has yet to debut their new kits. Their first public preseason match is scheduled for August. The club's preparations begin with a closed-door game against Leganés on Tuesday, July 28.

Following this, Real Madrid will play Fiorentina in Austria on Saturday, Aug. 1, and then face Deportivo La Coruña in the Teresa Herrera Trophy on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Both of these latter matches are expected to be broadcast on Real Madrid TV.

Several key players, including Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé, and Aurélien Tchouaméni, may miss these early games as they recover from World Cup semifinals. New signing Marc Cucurella is also likely to be absent after winning the 2026 World Cup with Spain, due to a mandatory 21-day rest period.
