Mbappe Ready for Benfica Clash Amid Injury Concerns
16 Feb
Summary
- Kylian Mbappe cleared to play against Benfica despite knee injury.
- Rodrygo Goes and Jude Bellingham are confirmed absentees.
- Real Madrid faces Benfica in the first leg of their play-off round.
Real Madrid is set to face Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League play-off round tie on Tuesday. Kylian Mbappe, who has scored 12 goals for Real Madrid in the Champions League this season, has been included in the squad and is expected to start, despite concerns over an ongoing knee injury. This is positive news for Real Madrid, as Mbappe was not risked in their recent league victory.
However, Real Madrid will be without key players Rodrygo Goes and Jude Bellingham for the match against Benfica. Bellingham has been managing a hamstring injury, and the game comes too soon for his return. Manager Alvaro Arbeloa will need to strategize his lineup, potentially pairing Mbappe with Vinicius Junior and maintaining a midfield four due to the continued absence of Bellingham.
