Real Madrid announced on Monday the acquisition of Spanish defender Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. The transfer fee is reported to be 55 million euros ($63.8 million), and Cucurella has signed a six-season contract with Real Madrid, running until June 30, 2032.
The 27-year-old left-back previously joined Chelsea in 2022 from Brighton & Hove Albion. His career also includes time with Getafe and coming through the esteemed La Liga champions Barcelona's academy.
Cucurella is currently with the Spanish national team at the World Cup and is the sole Real Madrid player in the squad. This move follows Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's re-election and the recent appointment of Jose Mourinho as coach.
The club is also reportedly set to sign Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate and has been linked with Bernardo Silva and Denzel Dumfries. Chelsea, who finished 10th in the Premier League last season, had Cucurella under contract for two more years, having won the Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League with them in 2025.
