RCB Spinner Suyash Sharma Dubs Gayle as GOAT Over Kohli in DPL 2025

In a recent development, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) spinner Suyash Sharma has made a surprising choice by naming former RCB opener Chris Gayle as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) over star batter Virat Kohli. This revelation came during a rapid-fire session on the sidelines of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, where Suyash is currently playing for the Outer Delhi Warriors.

Gayle, who joined RCB as a replacement for Dirk Nannes midway through the 2011 IPL season, made an immediate impact by slamming an unbeaten century on his debut. Over the years, the left-hander became an integral part of RCB's batting lineup, putting up several memorable performances, including his unbeaten 175 against the now-defunct Pune Warriors India in 2013.

During his 7-year stint with RCB from 2011 to 2017, Gayle amassed 3163 runs at an impressive average of 43.33 and a strike rate of 152.73, winning the Orange Cap twice. However, he was unfortunate not to have won the IPL title with the franchise, as they finished runners-up in 2011 and 2016.

Meanwhile, Suyash Sharma, the 22-year-old RCB spinner, has been making waves in the cricketing world. He was a key member of the RCB squad that won their maiden IPL title in the recently concluded 2025 season, playing a vital role in their successful campaign. Suyash was roped in by RCB for a hefty ₹2.60 crore during the mega auction and delivered impressive performances, often containing batters and bowling tight spells under pressure.

Although Suyash did not name Virat Kohli as the GOAT, he did acknowledge the star batter as the "run machine" of the team. Kohli, who has been a stalwart for RCB over the years, will undoubtedly go down as one of the franchise's all-time greats.
