Rashid Khan Joins MI Emirates for ILT20 Return
4 Dec
Summary
- Rashid Khan returns to ILT20 after three seasons away.
- He replaces injured Jordan Thompson in the MI Emirates squad.
- MI Emirates also appointed Kieron Pollard as captain.

Afghanistan's star leg-spinner Rashid Khan is returning to the International League T20 (ILT20), joining MI Emirates as a replacement player. This marks his comeback to the UAE-based league after a three-season hiatus, during which he was involved with the SA20. Rashid's inclusion comes as he replaces English all-rounder Jordan Thompson, who was ruled out due to injury.
The MI Emirates franchise has also undergone a captaincy change, with Kieron Pollard taking over from Nicholas Pooran. Pooran is set to depart for the SA20 tournament, having committed to MI Cape Town for the full season. Several players are participating in both leagues, with scheduling adjustments allowing their presence in both.
Rashid Khan, a leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket, had a successful stint in his previous ILT20 appearances, claiming four wickets across two games. His partnership with Shakib Al Hasan and AM Ghazanfar is expected to bolster the team's spin-bowling attack. MI Emirates is scheduled to commence their campaign on December 4th.
