Rangers Hijacked? Milan Eyes French Defender

Rangers Football Club is reportedly close to securing the transfer of defender Sankhoun Diawara from French club Troyes. The 20-year-old French player, who won Ligue 2 last season, has agreed to terms with the Scottish side. However, the deal faces a significant challenge as AC Milan has entered the race, attempting to intercept the transfer. The Italian giants are interested in adding Diawara to their under-23 squad.

Manager Derek McInnes sees Diawara as a key signing to strengthen Rangers for the upcoming Scottish Premiership campaign. He is offering the 6ft 3in defender a place in the first team, a prospect more appealing than Milan's youth setup. Diawara is in the final year of his contract with Troyes and is not seeking an extension, facilitating his potential departure. FC Basel also holds an interest, but Rangers are currently leading the race.

Diawara made 17 appearances for Troyes last season, contributing to their promotion. Rangers have identified him as a prime target for a natural left-sided centre-back role. The club is determined to finalize this signing and fend off competition from AC Milan.
